8/24 Left Cody, WY, headed to Downings

8/24

Left Cody, WY at 8:45 – Drama over – found my PDA. It rained through the night. Cloudy now. Yellowstone had a lot of pretty areas, such as Keppler Cascade but many areas were either burned over or with large areas of dead areas of dead trees on the mountain sides. (Mountain Pine Needle).
Yellowstone Lake is huge and very neat with many areas of thermal fields around the edge Old Faithful cooperated and blew about ½ hour after we arrived. In Yellowstone we saw buffalos and elks. The trip out of Yellowstone towards Downings was spectacular, Hwy 191 runs along Madison River, Galatine river and other much of the way. The streams and surrounding mountains make it worthwhile to go slower.

Arrived at Downings at 6:30 pm. We have a wonderful time in the evening. Didn't go to bed until after midnight.
