Good Evening,
Another long day but what a beautiful day it was. Temp was about 88 and not humid. The first attraction was Chapel in the Hills. It is exact replica of a chapel in Norway. The setting was a well manicured hillside.
On the way to Crazy Horse Memorial we came across the Pactola Dam & Reservoir. It was breathtaking as is all of the Black Hills.
Our next stop was at the Crazy Horse Memorial. It is a work in progress to make a monument to honor all the Indian tribes. No government money has been accepted, it is all private donations. The sculptor Korczak is dead but his family continues the work. He died in 1982 and had 10 children. His wife and seven of his children work for the foundation.
Had lunch in Keystone, SD and did a little shopping there and at Hill City.
Then we were off to Mt. Rushmore and again was overwhelmed with the beauty of this area.
Tomorrow we are off to Cody, WY, should take us about 6 hours. I'm ready to sit for the day.
Love, Mom & Dad
